Arriving in Brazil

After arriving in Brazil, foreign vessels need to be regularized by local authorities: Brazilian Federal Police, Brazilian Federal Revenue and the Port Authority. The necessary documents are: passport, vessel’s papers, statement of assets, (available on the Brazilian Customs website):

Note: All the vessel’s crew need to present itself to the Brazilian Federal Police. However, at the Brazilian Federal Revenue and the Port Authority only the captain needs to appear.

Arriving in Salvador coming from another Brazilian state

Foreign vessels that arrive in Salvador, but have already been in Brazil should go to the Brazilian Federal Police and to the Port Authority with both your personal and the vessel’s identification documents in hand.

Leaving Brazil

To leave Brazil, foreigners must follow the same procedures as arriving. Present themselves at the Brazilian Federal Police, Brazilian Federal Revenue and the Port Authority, stating that they are leaving the country so their situation will be regularized.

Note: All the vessel’s crew need to present itself to the Brazilian Federal Police. However, at the Brazilian Federal Revenue and the Port Authority only the captain needs to appear.

Grant of Temporary Admission

TTNB’s Marina accepts vessels with grant of Temporary Admission after regularization of the vessel by the competent authorities and advance discharge of the vacancy rental.

Foreigners wishing to leave Brazil, but intending to leave the vessel in Brazilian waters need to go to the Brazilian Federal Revenue and fill in the Term of Grant of temporary admission. They must file an application with the data of the interested party and a statement from the person in charge of safekeeping the vessel during the period in which the owner will be away. Present this documented information at the Port Authority and leave copies of the document with the person in charge of safekeeping and in the vessel itself. When returning to Brazil, they should go to the Brazilian Federal Revenue and request the Term of Release of the vessel.

Extension of the length of stay–tourist visa in Brazil

The maximum length of time a foreigner traveling for tourism is allowed to stay in Brazil (Tourist Visa –VITUR) is 90 days, granted upon arrival, with the possibility of extension of up to 90 days more, taking the total stay to a maximum of 180 days per year.

Note: The length of stay of foreigners traveling for tourism in Brazil may vary according to the nationality of the traveler, observing the criteria in the Quadro Geral de Regime de Vistos (general framework of visa regime):(http://www.portalconsular.mre.gov.br/antes/quadro-geral-de-regime-de-visto-1 ).

Note: The process for requesting an extension for the length of visit can only be done in person at the Brazilian Federal Police and it must be realized before the end of the term granted upon arrival in Brazil.
